They’re where?

Tyler has a ton of Matchbox cars that he likes to crash, roll, and all around throw around the house. They’re constantly under the couch, the bed, the table, etc. Well, after one particularly crazy race a couple of them ended up under the stove and he asked Daddy to help him get them out from under it. I just thought these pictures were particularly cute with the both of them peeking under the stove.

Like Father like Son

After a trip to the Vans outlet store down in Camarillo Tyler decided that he wanted the same sort of checkered Vans as Daddy. We couldn’t resist.

Swimming in November?

Yes, Tyler got some water fun in during the month of November. Our friend Katelyn celebrated her 2nd birthday at the Lompoc Aquatic Center’s play structure on November 15. It has been a couple of years since Tyler last played on the structure. It’s amazing what a little time does. The last time he was deathly afraid of going up onto the structure, let alone the water slides, and mainly just played in the shallow water. This time around he ran right out on the structure and went right down the slides all by himself. He had a ball and we had a hard time getting him out of the water to eat. It was awesome, and a little sad, watching him grow up right before our very eyes.

Splash down!

Ready to go again

Time for a short break

And we’re back again!

Get out of the way, Tyler’s in charge of the water

Happy birthday Katelyn!

Tyler’s first trip to San Diego

Bill’s company had a mandatory shut down the whole week of Thanksgiving so we decided to take a quick trip down to San Diego for some fun. It was Tyler’s first and he was very happy that Grandma and Grandpa Mok were able to join us as well. We drove down the Sunday, November 22, and spent 2 nights there. Monday we spent the day at Sea World. Tyler was looking forward to seeing Shamu after seeing a program about Sea World on TV. Luckily, the park wasn’t too packed and the lines were relatively short for most of the attractions. He was also excited about seeing dolphins up close and personal, but unfortunately, they were remodeling the exhibit and show and we weren’t able to see them. We did see plenty of sharks, sea lions, and walruses though. After we were done with Sea World for the day we went into Old Town for dinner. We had Mexican food at Café Coyote and then strolled around the area and checked out a couple of shops before heading back to the hotel.

Tuesday we drove up to Carlsbad and Legoland. It was a first for all of us and quite the experience. First of all, it was a lot bigger than we expected and we weren’t able to see the entire park. Second of all, it was A LOT more crowded than Sea World. The first line we jumped into for the Safari Jeep ride was 45 minutes long. If Tyler didn’t want to go on it so bad we probably would have skipped it. They did have a little area with Lego tables set up for the kids to play in while the parents wait in line, but Tyler was not interested in playing with them. The park is definitely geared towards littler kids, as most of the rides are more for elementary aged kids, so Tyler had a ball. His absolute favorite was the pirate ship ride where you shoot water cannons at other pirate ships and bystanders shooting cannons from outside the ride. He went on it twice and both times got off of it with the biggest grin ever. It didn’t seem to matter to him that he was soaked to the bone afterwards. It’s a good thing we got a special deal for a free return trip to the park because we need it to see it all!

Fall Leaves and Turkey

With autumn came the changing colors of the leaves and eventual piles of leaves. We don’t have the same amount of leaves that fall from the trees as they do back east, but Tyler still had fun making a small pile out front and jumping into it. He was so excited about the whole thing. Ah, to be a child again, when the simplest things make you happy.

This year we didn’t make it out to Phoenix for Thanksgiving with Bill’s family. Instead we had Thanksgiving at home with Alana’s parents and our friends Craig and Terri and their family. Tyler loves their daughter Rachel and he had fun playing with her all evening. We pulled out the old turkey fryer to fry our turkey and it turned out delicious. I always forget how good it is. I think we need to have fried turkey more often. The problem is convincing the rest of the family of this.

No fear

The boy definitely likes to jump

Mmmm, turkey!
